Malaria in Thailand

DSC03907-C

There have been just over 11,000 cases of malaria reported in Thailand since the beginning of the year, with the South being the worst affected area. Anti-malarial medication is recommended for the borders of Thailand - it is still generally not recommended for the majority of the country. Cases of malaria will continue to be monitored as the rainy season begins. Travellers are advised to use a DEET based mosquito repellent, re-apply it regularly and to wear clothing to cover areas of exposed skin.
