On the 22nd May a coup was enforced in Thailand. The military took control over the Thai government with the aim of restoring law and order and imposed curfews throughout the country. The curfews were lifted on 13th June. Demonstrations and protests have been breaking out in Bangkok and other cities and in some cases, have turned violent. Travellers should avoid getting caught up in political action and stay in their accommodation should protests occur. Visitors should be aware that it is illegal to criticise the coup and should therefore avoid having any political opinions in public.
