Why have a Sexual Health Screening?

Getting a STI Test is easy, confidential and fast. Most STI tests are simple and effective, requiring one or more of the following to produce results; a small blood sample, a cheek swab or a urine sample.

If you are starting a new sexual relationship or would like to have some peace of mind to ensure that you are infection free and not transmissible to any future partners, then it is advisable to have a sexual health screening. Our comprehensive sexual health screening facilities can test for most of the commonly contracted and infectious sexually transmitted diseases. Sexual Health Screenings should be undertaken at regular intervals especially when you have a new sexual partner.

Sexual Health FAQs

A clinic consultation is a risk assessment, completed face to face with one of our specialist health nurses at a London Travel Clinic at a convenient for you. The nurse will assess your individual circumstances and health background before making recommendations on which Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) screen test is right for you. STI tests will be carried out at the same appointment. The screening consultations are best designed for people who are asymptomatic i.e people who have no symptoms of infection.

Sexually transmitted infections require an incubation period before they can become detectable. Each infection takes a varying amount of time before it is able to be detected in a lab testing sample. You should wait 2-3 weeks after exposure for bacterial infections such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea and 28 days after exposure for viral infections such as HIV.

Yes, all our nurses who complete the Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing are specially trained in sexual health, as well as travel medicine, general and occupational health medicine.
